A real loss to us all. I was introduced to her work by my good friend Stevyn Colgan back in the early nineties,, long after Jones' most successful and popular period. Her Wonderful composition, emotive subjects and flawless techniques were mind blowing to a developing artist. I still cherish my Jones books and reference them regularly. My favourite piece is, and will always be Blind Narciccus. Reminds me of a modern JW Waterhouse image.

Went to see Elbow on the 13th Oct.. It was a great gig!! the Venue was the Roundhouse in Camden. recently refurbished and wow, what a supercool place with fantastic atmosphere.

I haven't been to Camden for so long, I had forgotten just how cool it was.

Here's some pics of the gig.. My favourite is the stage side gig case.. reminds me of an Album cover but I can't remember which one.

OK so most of the latest updates are pretty shitty. I am pleased just to be doodling again to be honest!. My job is pretty hardcore and very corporate, it makes it hard to get time even to sketch.. Most days I just want to veg out.. kick back with saving the universe on my xbox/ps3.

Anyhoo.. hope ya like. Had a great time in SDCC with Monsiuer Stig Colgan.. Even though he snored like a whale lol.. My tribute to or trip is the meanderthal sketch.. Pretty much summed up our trip I think :).... but we did obviously wear clothes!!!

So i compeleted my first week in a new job this week.

It all went very well. A week in Phoenix Arizona for a meet and greet. I can say that I met some really nice people and I am really looking forward to my new position. I know it's not Art but I do feel re-energized and ready to go.

I took a quick trip up the road (3 1/2 hours) to Red Rock and a town called Sedona for some mountain views.. followed by a drive up the Oak Creek Pass, where the terrain went from desert to snowy mountain within 5 miles!!

It was very very cool. I thought I'd post some piccies I took. Take a gander. Be aware that the full size images (clicky) are huge, but well worth the wait.

I have not drawn a whole lot for a while but I will also post up my paltry sketchbook drawings later.

Didn't do very well in the competition. Only 4 votes.. Winner got 100's. I even got knocked for nipple showing.. Bollox! How could she not have her nips on display when wearing that bra! :-)

I should go for a more mainstream style next time i guess (not).

Anyhoo.. The next one is Medusa as Queen.. I have no real intention of entering. I did, however, have this little one fall out of my brush pen while my good lady watched some Strictly come dancing....

Hardly a detailed study but good fun :-)

I say finished but that's a desicion i can't make. I basically had to finish it today.. I had no access to my mega huge version at home so i downloaded my wip from here and just speed painted the shite out of it. I'm pretty happy really. More happy with my breakthrough ( as mentioned earlier).
Thanks for all you nice words.. There really is nowt like a few comments to make it all feel worth it sometimes :-)

I really hate the way i paint and that last piece was a prime example of my muddy uninspired pallette. I think I have finally Clicked with colour! Of course you are free to disagree but I feel I have re energised both myself and the work with this speedy apint over.. Feedback would be cool..

A wip from a piece I am working on. They have a weekly competition on Conceptart.org called COW.. Character of the week. This weeks theme is the herald. brief is a mighty knight and body guard that anounces the coming of the Queen to court.
As I have a preference fro drawing boobies etc...I went with this one. It grew organicly from a base idea.. I wanted a fearfull wise warrior that would strike fear into the hearts of all. The bra just happened and the fertility symbol just seemed right. A dark and horrible race just popping in for tea before they conquer your ass!!!
Still going. Believe it or not I have toned down the sexual themes.. I wanted a real pagan feel :-)

I started entering a CHOW ( conceptart.org competition Charachter Of The Week). Never got it finished but enjoyed the process so far. All digital. Titled "The Avenging Winter Princess". Enjoy please.

Steve and I had a lenghty conversation about her main pice of armour. I entitiled it "The Motivator". Basically it emits a pleasing vibration when in battle. Very handy for Amazon Ladies I think :-)

A blast from the past indeed. Just hunting 'round the interweb as you do. I stumbled across this cover on the 2000ad website!! I drew this for a fanzine years ago 1999 to be precise. Nostalgia trip for me..I started doodling the old greats like Judge Dredd and the like...great stuff. makes me proud to be almost british ( irish heritage, blah blah blah).

Completed a painting of my father in law..(Check back and you'll see I redrew it) The wonderful Vic Curtis of Putney. Great guy caught by suprise by my new camera. He'll hate this..but laugh , I'm sure. I shall hang it in my loo at home. A sure way to speed up the process for my visitors.lol

On another note I attended the first Dr Sketchys with Steve. Bought Molly's Book and generally had a good time. Great Model and host. Highly recommended!!

I'll post some pics of that when i get my shit toghether.

Very Burlesque. i just hope I can do it justice. Not after a photogenic feel just trying to capture the spirit of the image. I would post the reference but I do not yet have permission from Molly.

Some doodles for my fav game HALO...Yes i am a big kid that loves my xbox 360. The top one is my vision of a female spartan...loong before the graphic novel and DOA character..as you can tell, she actually looks like a chick! 2nd is a quick unfinished paint up of a friends gamertag MonkeyPimp..He has this crazy idea that he is good at HALO. Third is the good old Master Chief getting his gun tuned up for some ass kicking!!
Bungie can do no wrong in my eyes. Can't wait for Halo 3....1 minute to win!
